We appreciate your interest in our First Friday Night Lunar New Year event occuring tomorrow, celebrating the Year of the Horse! The waitlist is now closed, and pre-reserved member tickets are fully sold out.
Walk-Up Tickets
We will be accepting walk-up visitors starting at 4:30 PM day-of while tickets last. While walk up tickets cannot get a wristband to reserve a seat at any of our in-person Lion Dance performances, you are welcome to wait in our performance standby lines. Visitors in the standby lines will be offered seats to the Lion Dance performances if and as they are available. There is a possibility that walk-up visitors may be asked to return at a later time or refused entry if we reach building capacity.
Sensory-Friendly & Livestream Viewing
If you don’t get a chance to see the Lion Dance in person, we are offering two virtual viewing areas for all three performances!
- A sensory-friendly viewing area in Bay Lab 1 will livestream all performances with lower volume.
- A theater livestream option will feature a large screen and muted drumming. This space will be louder than Bay Lab 1 but less intense than the live performance.
Explore, Create & Discover All Evening
Enjoy hands-on activities and exploration throughout the museum:
- Animal Encounters: Meet animal ambassadors in Bay Lab 2 at 5:30 PM, 6:00 PM, and 6:30 PM, plus explore zodiac-themed animal biofacts on Level 2 of Redwood Hall.
- Art & Hands-On Activities: Create paper lanterns and color horse-themed artwork on Level 1 of Redwood Hall. Horse coloring pages are also available in the sensory-friendly viewing area.
- Science & Cultural Exploration: Learn about Lunar New Year traditions, zodiac animals, and the Cal VSA Lion Dance Team on Level 3 of Redwood Hall.
Thank you, and we hope to see you tonight!
